UI/UX Designer

We are looking for a talented UI/UX Designer to join our Engage product team. You will be working hands-on with the product team with new and existing functionality, ensuring that we always deliver an intuitive and pleasing user experience. You will work with the Head of Product Development, Product Manager, and Senior Developer to improve processes, keeping good UX design at the forefront of everything we do. You will be comfortable both communicating directly and running workshops with users and stakeholders at all levels or our business and our customers’ businesses in order to understand users’ needs and help build innovative solutions to their problems.

Key responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for user experience when improving existing product or adding new product functionality, including all interaction, visual design, and working with the Product Team to ensure that functionality is effective and never obstructive
  • Planning and facilitating discovery/ideation/design thinking workshops, working closely with Head of Product Development and Product Manager
  • Collaborate with Head of Product Development and Senior Developer on technical feasibility of a design approach
  • Utilising tools such as sketches, story boards, wireframes, user flows, prototypes etc. to communicate solutions to stakeholders, perform early usability tests, and provide coherent handovers to Developers
  • Providing visual designs and assets for Development handovers
  • Perform design reviews of new and existing functionality

Qualities and experience required:

  • Proven track record of excellence in digital product design and user experience design, including usability and accessibility
  • An understanding of and experience with Design Thinking, Lean UX, and Human-centered Design
  • A willingness and desire to try new ideas and work with Product Team to improve processes and Product Team deliverables
  • Strong communication skills, and comfortable communicating with individuals at all levels and departments of our organisation and our customers’ organisations
  • Proficiency in Adobe XD or other wireframing and prototyping tools (preferably XD)
  • Proficiency in Photoshop/Illustrator etc.
  • Must be able to think strategically about design and champion the importance of good design and UX in product strategy, vision, and direction, while balancing user and business needs

Ideal, but not essential:

  • An understanding of web technologies such as HTML/CSS, including experience with browser development tools
  • Experience working with remote collaboration tools
  • Experience working within an Agile (Scrum) team

  • Location: Newbury office with flexibility for remote working
